Donations

PYMNT supports donations as a simple way to receive one-time or recurring financial contributions through a hosted experience.

This makes it easy for organisations, creators, and communities to accept payments without needing to build a custom checkout flow.

What are donations?

Donations are voluntary payments made by a customer to a merchant or organisation.

Unlike invoices, donations:

  • Do not require a predefined order or service
  • Are typically optional and user-driven
  • Can be one-time or recurring (depending on configuration)
  • Use a simplified payment flow

Hosted donation page

PYMNT provides a hosted donation page that allows merchants to start accepting donations immediately.

This page handles:

  • Donation amount selection (fixed or custom, depending on setup)
  • Payment method selection
  • Secure payment processing
  • Confirmation and receipt handling

No custom frontend or payment integration is required to use it.

How donations work

A typical donation flow looks like this:

  1. A donor opens the hosted donation page
  2. The donor selects or enters an amount
  3. A payment method is chosen
  4. The payment is processed via PYMNT infrastructure
  5. The merchant receives confirmation of the donation

All transactions are handled through the same regulated payment stack used across PYMNT.

Merchant setup

Donations are enabled per merchant and can be configured with:

  • Supported currencies
  • Minimum and maximum amounts
  • Branding for the hosted page
  • Optional recurring donation settings

This allows merchants to tailor the donation experience to their use case.

Compliance and payment processing

Donation payments are processed through the same regulated infrastructure as all other PYMNT transactions:

  • Accredited Payment Service Provider (PSP)
